Oftentimes, they get terrible infections from using the litter box. Also, the litter gets into the wound and hurts terribly, like dirt in a puncture wound (I know from experience...) and the cat will most likely stop using the litterbox. This creates problems for the owners, who will most likely euthanize the cat or give it to a shelter. Cats are /dying/ because of this. SafariSeal7: declawed cats have to relearn how to walk! after declawing, the poor cat's paws are really hurt! (look it up, i know!) i believe declawing should be made illegal. you can literally just use cat claw covers.
