------------------------------------------------------------------------ BACKSTORY ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Aether was always misunderstood. To everyone, he looked like a villain, right down to his appearance. He had the power to 'shape the void', and even that got interpreted as evil. Aether was constantly trying to prove himself, but it didn't work. Then one day, a travelling merchant visited the village where he lived, and gave him a book on alchemy. In the back of the book was scrawled a warning: 'find the stones before she does'. Aether then set off to find the writer of this cryptic message. It turned out to be Ignis, a pyrokinetic cat, who had heard the message from 'a poor bedraggled wretch', Phlostigon. Aether and Ignis agreed they had to find him, and they did, with a side order of Terra. Aether immediately fell in love with Phlostigon, and this caused some tension between him and Terra as Aether thought Terra was in love with Phlostigon too. But that was resolved quickly. Then came along Aer and Aqua. They were now all together, except one...the cat with the power to create and destroy. Phlostigon evidently knew who this was, but wasn't telling. Aether tried to get the information out of him, and that's when it started. The nightmares. Apeiron started appearing in his mind, taunting him with visions of power and riches, but Aether refused. Apeiron took control of Phlostigon to spite him and separated the two. Aether hopes to find him, but knows they have to press on if they want to have the balance and power to fight Apeiron. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
