DECK DOJO Instructions, Credits, Notes Art by @ScratchtheGreatest (except for Giga, obviously) Code by @ScratchtheGreatest Music by @ScratchtheGreatest When I signed up for mathias's contest, I didn't really know what to make. I thought of the game design principles of positive feedback loops and progression systems, which you often see in card games. I knew I wanted to combine that with the high paced action of brawlers swarming with enemies. After some thought, I decided on a fighting game of sorts where special attacks are replaced with playable cards. Besides the new premise, I hope to wow players and judges by the sheer amount of content in the game: try beating it with a cheat code, or without card attacks. CONTROLS: (more advanced instructions below) Desktop: Arrow keys to move, A to kick, S to punch, space to use card attacks. Hold space until the card is completely white (two seconds) to send it to the back of your deck. Mobile: Use the handy controller onscreen. The "move" circle is a joystick, while all of the other buttons are just button. Use the "card attack" button as specified above. What the cards do: Fireball: You get one of these at the start of the game. Additionally, they drop rarely from Flying Ogres. This card shoots a small fireball that does severe damage to enemies. Dash attack: 50% drop from Pixies. This card allows you to rush forward, dealing mediocre damage to enemies. Attack up: 33% drop from Stickmen. This card increases the power of your punches and kicks. Jumps up: Rare drop from Flying Ogres. Increase your number of jumps by 1. What the enemies do: Pixies: Common pets of the Ogre tribe. They approach, wait, then use a dash attack, dealing minimal damage. They are killed in one hit. Stickmen: The royal guards of the Ogre tribe. They approach, hesitate (that's your time to attack!), then play dead, turning into a pile of sticks. Don't step on the sticks, they're sharp! Flying Ogre: The Ogre tribe's finest soldiers. They fly towards you, then fall onto the ground If they fall on you, it does severe damage, so stay away. After that, they approach you, but can't hurt you. Ogre King: The final boss. When his eyes flash, memorize the pattern quickly, because he will then shoot lasers in the same pattern. Then, he will make himself vulnerable for a few seconds, so strike while you can. His next phase consists of summoning giant pixie minions. Kill them quick! CHEAT CODES: (Only one cheat code is allowed at a time) godmode: invincibility triplejump: gives you two extra jumps hadouken: punches shoot hadoukens fifteen: fifteen health ogreking: skips to the final boss insane: insane mode without having to beat the game first
