The first generation LFM Primero was introduced in 1987 for the 1988 model year as a midsize sedan, with station wagon, coupe, and liftback variants arriving in mid 1988. The sedan, wagon, and liftback were available in 3 trim levels: SE, Base, and LE. In 1992, the Voyage package was introduced for the station wagon, featuring exclusive color options as well as wood grain, as a tribute to the 1980 LFM Voyage.
