Description

seriously. art theft needs to stop. upon joining scratch, i’ve uncovered a whole world of seemingly innocent art theft, of impersonation, and a bunch of other things that are usually overlooked. firstly, art theft is not a joke: artists work hard on what they make, and it doesn’t feel great when someone who you barely know takes your art and claims it as their own, or even just reposts it without proper credit and later promptly refuses to post it. or equally as bad: when someone else tries to impersonate an artist, which i am myself a victim of. art thieves, icon stealers, and design stealers out there: art theft isn’t just morally wrong, it’s illegal. commissions are usually people paying artists to draw, and that is quite literally like having a professional artist paint something and then have a thief run away with it and claim it as theirs. doesn’t sound so appealing? don’t do it. victims of art theft: i sympathize with you, but we also need to stop blaming the scratch team. we’ve multiple times tried to bring up the issue of recolouring and more to the st, but it’s not like they have complete authority over scratch either. we need to make our own efforts to stand up for ourselves instead of just pointing fingers at the scratch team, because that’s not what they’re here for. art theft is unacceptable. it’s just like theft of any other thing. artists spend hours, days straight making their art sometimes, and all it takes is one mark of the blur tool to wipe off that watermark, which takes about five seconds, im assuming. this isn’t right. just because someone else’s art is “better” than yours doesn’t mean you can steal, trace, and/or repost it. just because someone might be more advanced than you doesn’t mean you’re bad. we’d love to see your art, and i’m sure posting your own art would be more gratifying than illegally posting someone else’s. nothing good comes out of reposting someone else’s art. what do you want out of it? nothing good ever comes out of it. so take the good path and post your own amazing art, ok? you’ll thank yourself for it, and eventually the world will too.
