Click here to see a demo of what this can do: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/318772822 Tutorial video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmMDK1__0x0 And here's another project made using this: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/322469741 Animate-inator is a tool for making your own Scratch movies! Bring in your own art and sound and arrange how you want them to move. HOW TO USE: I Recommend you watch the tutorial video above. But if you like reading better: -Animate-inator will move sprites around according to a sequence of steps that you determine. -You can move through each step by clicking the triangle arrow buttons to the right of the word 'Step.' [At first every step will be the same as we haven't edited anything yet.] -When you press the 'Play' button Animate-inator will play through the steps one at a time, waiting for the current step to complete before moving on to the next. -You will determine what each sprite will do during each step. It could move, change size, make a sound, etc. -There are 5 sprites and a backdrop you can work with. Each sprite takes an action during each step. The next step won't begin until all the sprites have completed their action for the current step. -Here's a very simple example: -Step 1: We'll make all sprites hidden except Pico. And make Pico very small and put him in the distance. -Step 2: All sprites are still hidden except Pico. But this time we'll make Pico big and put him in the foreground. We'll set the time it takes to move him to 4. -Now when we press 'Play,' Pico will first appear small in the background and then slowly move to his position in the foreground. All the other sprites will be hidden just as we programmed it! -You can select the sprite you want to edit by clicking the 2 arrow triangles next to the word 'Sprite'. -You select the type of action you want that sprite to do during the current step by clicking on the word to the right of 'Action.' [Or the arrows underneath] -The actions are: Start / Move / Wait / Hidden / Sound / Say and 'Sprite 1' has an extra one: The End. -The 'Start' action is only used in the first step. It will set the sprites starting location. Just drag the sprite where you want it to be. -The 'Move' action tells the sprite to move. You drag the sprite where you want it to go and it will move from it's location in the previous step to the new location in the current step. You can also set how long it will take and if it will 'Glide' there or just 'Appear.' -'Wait' means the sprite will do nothing and just wait wherever it is. You can set a time or just wait until the other sprites have finished the current step. -'Hidden' means the sprite is invisible for the current step. [Use it when a sprite is off stage so to speak, not part of the on-screen action.] Again you can set a time limit the same as the 'Wait' action. -'Sound' means the sprite will play a sound. Either it will trigger the sound which will continue to play along with the following 'steps.' Or it will play the complete sound before moving on to the next step. -'Say' has the sprite using a Scratch speech or thought bubble with text. -'The End.' If this action is set the movie will stop when it reaches this step. [Only sprite 1 has this action] You can also click on the '?' to activate the built in help mode. Oh yea, you have to 'See Inside' and add your own costumes, sounds and backdrops to be able to use them in your animations of course. Only use the sprites called 'Sprite1' to 'Sprite5' and the backdrop. Don't touch the others. Once you've finished you can Finalize it and publish your movie without the control panel. If you watch the demo (Link way at the top) all the way to the end and then click the green flag again, you can play around with the control panel and see how the demo was made. This project is dedicated to my daughter who wanted a way to make short stories using voice actors and her own artwork without having to worry about the coding. I think it turned out pretty good and look forward to seeing what you do with it! Oh yea, there's probably some bugs. Let me know if you find any particularly bad ones. I'll investigate.
