BUTTONS: Click, space, or right arrow: Forward one page Left arrow: Backward one page A: Title page / intro B: Chapter 1 C: Chapter 2 D: Chapter 3 E: Chapter 4 F: Chapter 5 G: Chapter 6 H: Chapter 7 I know I'm a weird author. I'm addicted to adverbs. :p THESE ARE SPOILERS!! DON'T READ EM UNLESS YOU WANT IT SPOILED!!!!!!!!! This was originally intended to be a game but it got to be so big that I had to abandon it since I would need to make it in C+. (You can see a few costumes inside.) SO I decided to put the story to good use, and turn it into a book or novel or story or whatever! Basically the idea is it introduces the fairy tale and then you see Mel. Every DAY monsters attack her clan and she is one of the warriors who defend it (this is because Dark mostly just wants to attack what Light has.). It's set just after the bronze age. They have iron but no steel. It's like, Greek tech but caveman mythology and social structure. And Mel has the ability to light any lantern, torch or candle she holds, but they go out when she lets them go. And she has some magic that she unlocks later, ability to flash out light, throw fireballs, and put small lasers, but she doesn't start with it. Anyway the monsters are getting worse and worse and while she is fighting one she falls down the hole into the Deep. She plunges through a bunch of massive spiderwebs and then falls into deep water. You can see the lantern glowing through the water. Then a hand grabs her and pulls her out. It's this guy named Wyr. (you can see his sprite inside, he's pale grey and has huge dark eyes). Mel is super freaked out because she never knew there was life in the Deep, only monsters. Wyr explains that he has always been drawn to light, but can't go into sunlight or else he would die. He tells Mel that Dark invented life because he missed his brother, and Light ripped off Dark's idea, so Dark started making monsters because he was mad. The monsters usually ignore the deep-dwellers, but sometimes attack them by mistake, so they hate the monsters. Wyr agrees to help Mel get to the surface only if she promises to bring him a Moonstone so he never needs to be without light again. The two go through the caves and as they reach his clan, Mel discovers that he is actually a prince of a clan (the son of the chief). She helps him bust out so they can go to the "sacred place." The sacred place is a place where Light and Dark are in equilibrium. The water glows blue with phosphorescent plankton, and crystals reflect the light. Although Mel can't tell it, Wyr can see that sunlight is coming down (his eyes are way more light-sensitive), so he can't go with her through the tunnel. As Mel starts to climb, a woman (Gea) rises up from the water. She tells Mel that she never loved Light or Dark, and asks Mel to journey to the center of the Deep to fight Dark and convince him to forgive Light and set Gea free so that she can be whole again. So that Mel can face Dark, Gea tells Mel his real name: Dul. Mel and Wyr decide to journey to the center of the Deep, on their way facing various monsters, crossing through and helping other clans, and finally coming to the center of the Deep. Mel faces off against Dul, and he calls her a cheap knock-off, a creation, a clay model. He cannot understand how she is so powerful (this is because she has a piece of Light and also knows Dul's true name.) She weakens Dul enough, and Light is strong enough to come to the center of the Deep because Dul is weakened. Dul and Light begin to battle, and Dul reveals Light's true name, Luz. A piece of Dul is knocked loose and falls into Wyr. Mel uses the power of their true names to make them stop fighting. Then, Gea comes, and tells them that she never loved either of them. Mel uses her power to hold back Dul and Wyr uses his power to hold back Luz while Gea explains that she only wants to be free, and it was she who told Mel Dul's true name and sent her to face him. The two brothers are crushed by this, and lose the will to fight. Both relinquish their hold on Gea, and retreat back to heaven, forgiving each other and bonding again over the mutual heartbreak. Using her power, Gea restores the Earth and Moon, making it so that the two forms of life can safely visit one-another without dying. She then establishes Mel as Queen over the surface-dwellers, and Wyr as King over the deep-dwellers. Wyr decides that he doesn't want to be King, so Gea instead crowns his sister, Las. Las and Mel usher in an era of peace and productivity in/on the earth. Mel and Wyr becomes a world-wide explorer.
Whenever I update, I will comment in this studio: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/15312353/ This story is by me. If you want to make an animated series or comic dub from this, let me know, (I call dibs on co-producing, and voice-acting for either Mel or Las.) I tried to emulate the same vibe as a lot of old mythology stories from different parts of the world, while creating my own brand new concepts, people, and backstory. Thu, May 30, 2019: Chapters 1-7 THESE ARE ALSO SPOILERS!!!!!!! Mel: A focused, driven, level-headed person, about 17 years old. She wants to protect the innocent, and her main focus is the good of clan. However, she gets angry very easily, and has a hard time making friends. She wears brown leather boots, and a green tunic and kilt. She has bright amber hair and green eyes. Gaj: A mute warrior, about 40 years old. He is smart and kind, and something of a father figure to Mel. He wears a green tunic, green trousers, and black leather boots. He has salt-and-pepper hair and blue eyes. Pen: Mel's friend and fellow warrior, he protects the clan with Mel and Gaj, about 25 years old. Pen is a pessimist, but only because he is always worried for his family's safety. He wears a dark green tunic, light green trousers, and brown boots. He has blond hair and green eyes. Wyr: A dreamer and young boy, 12 years old. He is a good leader, but shies away from responsibility because he doesn't believe in himself. He loves to explore, and is drawn to stuff that is typically "off limits." He doesn't respond well to authority, and is very curious about everything. Responsibility makes him bitter, but he loves adventure. Las: Wyr's sister, about 15 years old. She is very bossy and rule-following, but deep down she loves adventure and surprises. She has the ability to see possible future outcomes in her dreams, which makes her very paranoid as a lot of them are very frightening. Las is much more pragmatic than her brother, and is good at planning and strategising. Dub: The healer of Las and Wyr's clan, in his late 60s. He's mostly blind, but his magic allows him to sense and heal injuries on people he touches. Oth: Wyr's father, and chief of his clan, about 35 years old. He is very overprotective and reserved, but has a great sense of humor once you get to know him. Oth is very kind, and revered as a hero by his clan. Although he is tough on Wyr and Las, he loves them with all his heart. He is kind to strangers and helps those in need. Oth enjoys cooking in his spare time, and has a mild magical affinity for sensing danger. Wik: An armor-smith and weapon-maker, about 30 years old. He likes to tinker with new ideas and inventions, and is Wyr's close friend. Although Wik doesn't like to go on adventures, he loves being presented with new ideas and items. He can charm items with runes. Hep: She lives on her own, outside of the clan, about 30 years old. Hep regards herself as "guardian of the sacred place" and doesn't want to let people in. She is stubborn, but means well. Gea: The goddess of the earth and moon. Although she didn't create life, she holds herself personally responsible for it, and wants to protect it.
