I thought I would try my hand at redesigning the homepage to have a more material and fluid feel while also keeping some key elements. Still don't know why the site isn't responsive enough to take up most of the screen but okay. Press space to zoom in a little. I know its pixelated. I added a "Your profile" and a "Recent Messages" section on the right to provide an overview about recent activity. I also added a "Recent Posts in the Forums" section as well. I darkened the navigation bar, widened the search bar, removed the create tab (its pointless), redid the icons, added dates for featuring and news topics (ie. 3 days ago, 2 weeks ago). The cards also have a smooth drop shadow to add depth and provide a groundwork for fluid motion.
