Click on the heart in the middle to get $1. When the amount bought variable is on 1, it means that when you buy something, it will only buy one of them. If the amount bought variable is on 2, it will ask you how much you want to buy, then you type in how much you want to buy. And if the amount bought variable is on three, if you click on one of the hearts that you buy, it will tell you how much it costs, I would suggest doing that when you start the game so you know when you can buy something. When the Amount Bought variable is on 4, it will buy as much of the thing you want that you can.
