Science as to why my moon looks slightly squished: When the moon is very low in the sky, the light passes through more of the atmosphere on its way to your eye, due to its angle from your location on the curved surface of the earth. The atmosphere bends the light reflecting off of the moon, making the moon appear slightly egg-shaped. You can see this phenomenon if you go to a very flat horizon (like the ocean or a flat plane) or if you are up on a tall mountain. The distortion will be worse if the air is turbulent and/or has high moisture content. I love astronomy, and atmospheric distortion is important for star-watchers to understand. Nothin' but facts and discoveries y'all XD
