(The backstory and original bio is inside) I know this is a popular thing to do on a character's one year anniversary, but #1, I don't have the kinda patience to wait until AUGUST, and #2, Blake and Coraline are both characters I think are in more desperate need of reworking. Sooooo just for reference, I'm not deleting the younger design of Blake from the canon entirely, but rather I'm just aging him up with a redesign. I like to think of the past design as his childhood appearance, and this redesign to be his more developed, present-day appearance. Also, @Pikakit, I'm not trying to invalidate our current Blake/Midnight chain, if anything, I made the redesign partially for the purposes of that chain. The way I played Blake was just out of character for his original personality, but I think it fits this version better.
@Pikakit for POTHS Queen for the song Bohemian Rhapsody (I swear to gosh, this song fits him so much better than any of my OC's~) Eyes inspired by @ChargeCats, I guess? So, lemme get something off my chest: I hated Blake. I thought he was a good idea at the time, but looking back, he was a wasted opportunity. I could've made a new character, but instead I recycled an old one, rehashing his backstory ever-so-slightly. His design was lazy, because in comparison to my other hybrids, something I was famously known for, Blake was literally just an Eevee with Umbreon ears and a tail. That's because he was designed as just a deformed Eevee, and was lazily crammed into a Roleplay where he didn't truly belong. Coming off the coattails of Cordelia, his design was just disappointing, and yet everybody loved it... He was my only Dark Pokemon, but he was just an edgy, brooding emo archetype, and he looked like a BABY. A BABY. So I'm fed up with Blake. But honestly, I don't want to let go of him. If you've ever known me, you know that I love to improvise whenever I make hybrids between simple Pokemon designs. So let's do just that and make this boi a little bit less painful to stare at. So here's a few things I added: ~I gave him a more sleek Umbreon physique, mainly to make him look older and more... like a legal adult? I mean, to be fair, he is 18 now ~Added more of the floof (because that makes anyone edgier) To be fair, I was mostly adding additional Umbreon parts, so adding some fluff kind of worked to balance out the design ~Changed the eyes to Red on Black. Technically they were solid black with hints of red, but Charge's ship generator project (that I bet you thought everyone forgot about) had the eyes drawn that way, and I liked it better that way ~I added some more crescent rings to his forehead and elbows. This serves multiple purposes 1) Making his fur a bit less barren 2) Further hammering in the fact that he isn't "just an Eevee with Umbreon ears" 3) I wanted to make them crescents much rather that full rings to show how Blake's only half an Umbreon and that they're partially developed or something 4) Maybe an eclipse reference, although that's non-canonical and just a subtle easter egg from your's truly 5) I just really like how they look ~Holy karp this design actually looks decent now I know you Blake fans will be ticked off that I changed his design. But just remember: Fjord was always the best boi from the very beginning (Flies away playing "Don't Stop Me Know") EDIT: I have put on my Fjord Helmet of Protection and I'm officially prepared for the backlash
