The larger leopard was coming. I could hear his paw steps. chasing. he wanted my territory, and he wasn't going to just run me off, he was going to kill me. I ran. Fast as my paws would carry me. running was my only chance, my only hope of survival. he did not stop. "oh no no no no" I mouthed. his paw steps getting closer. I stopped. The lake. He had herded me here. I could not go around. Nowhere to go but in. I made a jump for it. As I hit the water I began to push myself across the lake, my paws propelling me forward. I was SWIMMING! A wave of relief washed over me. I was going to make it! I continued to push, faster and faster, soon i would be free! That's when my legs locked. I couldn't move. slowly, I began to sink. I panicked, gasping for air. mouth filled with water. slowly I began to sink, deeper and deeper into the depths of the lake. I gasped, hoping for air, breath, but my mouth only got water. my lungs filled. I lost any energy I had left. As I fell into the water, everything took on a red hue as my eyes became bloodshot. but a sense of calm flooded through me with the water. Its peaceful here. then everything went black. I woke up. floating on the water. As I opened my eyes I realized something was very wrong. I was not floating on water, but in the air. I had drowned. my body was red, and filled with bubbles, as I had taken on a transparent liquid form. My mood was mixed, shock, awe, and horror all melted together as I observed my new form. I took a step upon the surface of the water. Then another. Is this form forever? Am I to live out eternity as the Red Lake Leopard?
