| Captives | Chapter 1 Safe... “Oh Peter, I know you're smart! Join me and be the co-owner of this place,” Rudy asked Peter. “N-no! I won’t!” Peter hissed stepping back wanting to leave. Rudy laughed rather creepily, “Oh dear, dear, Peter…” he paused seaming to be smiling under his mask. “Who said you had a choice?” Rudy then pulled down a lever that was close to the podium he stood on. The curtains on the stage began to open up. Peter then saw who was there with horror. His siblings were there, tied up to a poll, gunpowder was around them in a circle. “No! Please don’t hurt them!” Peter pleaded. Rudy coked his head, “Oh? So, will this convince you to join me?” Rudy asked. Peter lowered his head, his eyes looked at the ground. Lilan, Peter’s older sister struggled in the ropes, “No! Don’t do it, Peter, please.” Lilan pleaded to him. Peter glanced at her and his little brother Liam, “I’m sorry, but I can’t lose you guys,” he meowed back. Peter took in a shaky breath and looked up at Rudy, who was waiting for him. “I… Fine, I-I'll become the co-owner…” Peter finally replied. Lilan looked disappointed, but she also looked relieved she wouldn’t die. Rudy adjusted his bow-tie, “Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful! Oh, Peter, we have an amazing future ahead of us!” Rudy said surprisingly joyful. Yet, Peter was confused, I thought it was a trick… that no matter what I said he would have killed them anyway. Why did he want me to be the co-owner anyways? What would I do that makes this so important? Why did he let them go? Peter thought as he saw Lilan take a dirty glance at Rudy as she took Liam’s paw and walked out the back. Rudy laughed “What? Did you think I would kill them anyway?” He asked, “Silly, silly, Peter, I’m not that bad of a guy.” Rudy said as he and Peter went out of the Carnival Tent. They then went to Rudy’s office, “Now, Peter…” Rudy meowed as he sat at his desk. Peter sat in the chair in front of it. “I know you have… some things… you’d like to change about this place…” Rudy said. Peter nodded rather shyly, “Y-yes…” he replied. He could name a few things that were rather off about the place. “Well, before you become the co-owner and can change those things you need to… sign some papers, and… other stuff first,” Rudy said getting out a pen and some papers. “We can make this official by you signing here…” Rudy pointed to a place at the bottom of the document. Peter had a strange feeling about all of this, what if this was just a trick. He glanced at Rudy's expression, it was patient and calm, surprisingly. “Take as long as you need to decide,” Rudy meowed. Peter looked down at the papers and began to read them,
Before applying to the position there are some things the co-owner must do and must not do. Consider the following… 1) The co-owner gets half the revenue of the owner 2) The co-owner may make changes, but not drastic ones 3) The co-owner cannot make themselves the owner 4) The co-owners and owners family can and will be kept safe 5) Neither the owner or co-owner are allowed to show their faces in public, for safety purposes only. Peter paused “What do you mean not being able to show our faces in public?” he asked confused. Rudy coked his head, “For safety purposes, I’d rather not let someone know what are real faces look like and be able to find us and do something.” Rudy explained rather quickly and with a shifty look. Peter considered this, Well it wouldn’t be a bad thing… He thought. “O-okay…” Peter said and took the pen in his paws, Rudy watched him. Peter then shakily signed his name and placed the pen down. “Good choice, good choice!” Rudy meowed. “Now I do know a way where you can still go out, just with a mask… like me!” Rudy said shuffling through some boxes. He then pulled out something from one, “Ahh here it is, Peter,” Rudy said as he walked over to him. It was a white mask with two eyes like Rudys, “You can change it to whatever expression you want, it can do that, but if you don’t like it I can find a different one…” Rudy said. Peter shook his head, “N-no I like this one,” He said taking a look at it. Rudy seemed to smile under his mask, “Oh very good!” Rudy purred, “Do you want to put it on?” He asked Peter. Peter held it in his paws, for some reason, he felt this was meant to happen he nodded slightly and put it on. The cold feeling of it let him know it was either never worn or hadn’t been in a long time, he liked the feeling, though he couldn't see very well. It felt as if the mask belonged to him like it was meant for him and for once in his life he felt safe. Rudy coked his head, “How do you like it?” He asked. Peter looked around a bit, “I…” He paused and a bright happy feeling filled inside him, “I like it… I actually… like it.” Art/Story- @gotcha76 Music- ? (Not mine)
