Click the green flag to watch the bacteria evolve. There are two types of bacteria: autotrophs, which make their own food (shown here as thin ovals), and heterotrophs (shown here as circles), which don't. They will make more bacteria that will have mutations. These mutations can stack up over the course of a long time. The bacteria eat food (orange dots) and use it to do mitosis and move. They can starve. Autotrophs can also naturally gain food, and Heterotrophs can eat Autotrophs. The traits that can mutate are: size, color, speed, the frequency of changes in direction, the speed of mitosis, the chances of mutation, and the stimulant they are affected by. They can undergo multiple mutations at once. You can drag the mass of food floating around. Click a bacterium to perform an action on it. Press these keys to change the action: Z - Mutate it. X - Kill it. C - Feed it. V - Make it reproduce.
