~Though a Key can be extracted from its host's body, it will always be deeply connected to its host's soul.~ ~Therefore. when a solidified Key makes physical contact with its host afterwards, it will almost always be instantly pulled back into its host's body.~ ~Since the connection is so deeply rooted, it takes an enormous amount of power and force of will to resist it. In addition, for a Key to attempt to do so, it risks doing much harm to itself-- to the point of damaging the energy within it, or at the most extreme, breaking the stone itself. Which in turn, would bring darkness onto their Keyholder.~ ~For whatever reason, the Diamond has resisted. It risked throwing its existence as well as its true Keyholder's into jeopardy. Luckily, the result of its rashness only caused it to become a bit tired and sickly-like for a couple of days (its powers stopped working during this time), with no harm being done to the unsuspecting host. But why act in such a manner in the first place?
