Instructions

Use Scratch3 with the Ready Steady Code (RSC) vector grids to correlate pencil and paper with code. Make Scratch look like an Exercise Book (squared paper) by using tthe xy-grid-30px grid from the Backdrop library. Draw a STAR on paper then code a similar STAR in Scratch. Color the STAR and animate it with music from the Music Extensions.

Description

Some teachers are apprehensive of code and see it as irrelevant outside CS. Some fear code as replacing good traditional methodologies and throwing out the baby with the bathwater. That need not be so. SCRATCH +RSC aims to show teachers that by using the vector grids in Scratch they can make the Scratch stage resemble an Exercise Book and support their style of teaching. My message is: "If it can be drawn on a page try code it on the Stage". Great to start with Maths. This STAR project teaches coordinates. It was originated by Seamus O'Neill ©2019, author of the Ready Steady Code vector grids in Scratch3. Enjoy.
