Very short and simple tutorial on how to use cool texture from photos/patterns along with your drawings! Use arrow keys, space, or tap :3 *NOTE: You do need an outside program that has layers and layer blending options for this! (I use Photoshop, but most other art programs have it too) 1. (this is the title card lol) 2. start with your normal sketches / drawings. I recommend using a single solid color (which you can always change later if you want). Do some shading with this color, too! 3. Find an image that you think has an interesting texture! It can be of anything, but I don't recommend having too bright highlights as that may end up "erasing" your lines in certain places 4. If you want, you could even add another! 5. Now use your layer blending modes to combine your images or to achieve the look that you want with your single image. I like using, say, pin light, or hard light, or linear/color dodge... really, it depends on the image what will look the best, though, so experiment and have fun! 6. now clip those bad bois to your drawing layer and you've added a fun texture to your art! (sometimes, as you can see, you can even use the underlying color of the drawing underneath to give it a certain hue/tint - on the left, it's red, and on the right, it's blue/purple) 7. another example of results you can make; this was using a photo of water! 8. this one used a photo of a bunch of shiny metallic objects. ahh it's so fun I could make a dozen of these without stopping lol 9. here's a texture I produced by messing around with the clone stamp on a photo of (an opal I think?) for a while. You can try out some effects with it if you want a quick-start, download here: https://sta.sh/0chhse1spsd characters belong to cartoon Emara: Emirates Hero! um the texture photos were stolen off the internet... ;w; aka don't use this type of thing for commercial work to be safe, unless you're taking your own photos too! It's just to have fun :D
