Chapter 24 - November 18, 2017 - Royce Thanksgiving break is officially here! Yes! Genesis and I agreed to split our ‘fun plans’ accordingly, and she’s kind of going first; she gathered Alana and Tempest together for a sleepover, and they arrived at around three today. It was mildly disappointing to know that Tempest wasn’t really in love with me, but at the same time I understood why she wasn’t going to readily accept me. Then again, Tempest’s here right now, so it’s a bit of a win-win. Genesis is fine with me hanging around with the others, since I don’t really have much to do. When they went upstairs to the attic to do “girl stuff”, I figured I would just call Genesis’ older brother, who’s coming home from college for Thanksgiving. After that, I wasn’t exactly sure what to do with myself, so I (hilariously enough) decided to follow the girls. By the time I’d been halfway up the staircase, I could hear them laughing. I walked in on them for the fun of it. Genesis hid something behind her back while Tempest and Alana giggled a bit. They were going through the attic garbage. No wonder they don’t want me up here— Genesis said she had some ‘weird things that might be really cringeworthy for me’. “What is it?” I asked, half laughing. Genesis ran blank and Tempest took over. “We found one of your old pictures,” she replied. “Wait, what?!” Genesis laughed. “I mean, it’s kinda cute, I can’t blame Mom for having it here…” “Which picture is this?” I asked. Genesis admitted to fault and showed me a picture of my five-year-old self wearing a cat onesie. “Why?” was all I could manage. I handed the image back to Genesis who tucked it back into one of the many little bins cluttered in the attic. We all kind of just stared at each other for an awkward minute when Alana broke the tension. “So when are we gonna sleep?” Tempest headed down to the second story to look for a clock. It was already eleven somehow. At this point, we had all gotten ready to go to bed, but everyone knew we were going to be up pretty late. “I kind of wanna stay up for maybe another half hour, or we can just mess around on the beds,” Alana decided. We ended up becoming kids again for a little while when Tempest whapped Genesis with a pillow and we all eventually joined in. That was probably the best part. At about quarter to midnight the girls grabbed their sleeping bags and I left the scene. The next morning, Geni’s older brother came shortly after the girls left. Getting to meet Cayden was a good experience— I don’t think we’ve seen each other in quite a few years. We’re both really different people now, not gonna lie. He told me I was a good deal cooler, though I’m not sure how to take that. And he still doesn’t know the inner me that holds my one desire. I’m still chasing Tempest.
