Instructions

So, after a numerous amount of requests, I finally got to work! This is a detailed tutorial of my drawing process, not just some slides of images. In each stage, I give a description and provide a visual basis for the tools I used. For anyone using an external art program outside of Scratch, this should be a great resource for brushes and techniques I use. Please note that this piece was an art study I made based off of a photo. However, it should demonstrate my working tools and how I approach painting in general. Use the arrow keys to navigate through the slides, and move your mouse to view the art piece.

Description

Sparklers light up not only the night, but also the heart. With a new year comes new experiences, outlooks on life, and art waiting to take shape on a canvas. Drawn only days after the New Year, I made it my goal to attempt realism. As an artist, I recognize that improvement comes with exploration. My current style involves saturated, lurid colors, but through this piece I learned the beauty of midtones and lighting with an orange atmosphere. Well, Scratch 3.0 broke this project unfortunately :/ Originally designed in the 2.0 editor, I discovered that in 3.0 adding music would not allow me to save the project. I'm assuming I went over the data limit for the project, but I've never experienced this in prior projects. Consequently the final version has no music, but if you want the full experience, here's the link to the song: goo.gl/kcRakM (Daughter, Youth) Continuing along this line, making the Scratch project surprisingly took longer than the drawing itself. I kept on encountering auto save which paused me for around twenty seconds each instance. I even witnessed saving errors and in one instance I needed to reload the entire project. The error noted that my reload was sent to the Scratch Team as an automatic report. Hopefully 3.0 becomes smoother in the future. I'm rooting for you 3.0! Special thanks to three special Scratch icons for helping me demonstrate the different tools I used :) Color Swappin @Rosyda Stretchy @Jeila Trippy @LeiIani Hope you enjoy this art tutorial!
