Instructions

PLEASE use the full version, which has more "features": https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/356585542/ unless you are looking at this version for the sake of seeing what has changed. If you have any comments, post them in the studio "Windows 94 Archives" and say which version you are posting for. You can skip over all this feedback stuff and come back later. Warning: This project uses a lot of sprites. When using, your browser may crash. Please give feedback as below to help me make my project work better for you: -Smoothness of Operation on a Scale of 1-10: 1 Being Crashed in some way or form, 5 for laggy, but worked, and 10 for smooth, nearly perfect operation -Your Computer's RAM Amount (It's fine if you don't know, I just expect that most of the people checking out this project will all-knowing, computer-loving nerds like me). This helps me know what end your computer is. -Your computer's processor model(If you know how to find it). This also helps me know what end your PC is. -Your computer model/brand (For example, What kind of Mac you have and the year, such as 2015 Macbook Air 11.6", or your PC brand and model with year, such as 2016 Lenovo Yoga 710 15", or "Custom Build" if your computer is custom.) -Your OS (Like Windows 10 Build XXXX XX-Bit, MacOS/OS X 10.XX, Ubuntu X, etcetera) -Comments about what other glitches, criticisms, and complements you may have. -I am not stalking you. I know this may seem like a lot of information, but I cannot find you just by basic computer specs. You do not have to perfectly follow this rubric. If you are uncomfortable revealing some of this info, then you don't have to share all of it. My other Scratch account is @e-nerd Epilispy Warning: Don't use Sound Blister or hold over the "Everything Button"! For full experience, don't use this in full screen. I am just sharing this for feedback. It is incomplete and still has more to be added. This is why it is a preview. It will be taken down from time to time to update. Skip my long description if you just want to read the instructions. Description: Welcome to Windows 94! You might be thinking, "What is Windows 94? I've never heard of it." You're not alone. This is the first time ever the public gets to see Windows 94, a version of Windows 95 that was set for release to consumers exactly one year before 95 on August 24th, 1994. The copy running is a retail copy of the canceled OS. Microsoft manufactured 14 copies before making the decision to cancel production because they though it needed a little more work to be worth the $259.95 they wanted, though when Windows 95 was released, it retailed at fifty dollars less. Instructions: Let our Huelet Lackard PC boot. (If your browser keeps crashing, go into Fastboost with the E key.) You can try to open BIOS with the F key, but HL hopes you won't disturb their Duct Tape empire. If you want to get to Windows quicker, then click E after you click the green flag. Then, click OK once Windows loads and it gets to the log in screen. Then, have fun on the desktop!

Description

The non-preview version was supposed to be released the 24.5th anniversary of Windows 95, but I forgot, so I posted it 3/12. Sorry! Here is the full version: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/356585542/ . Note: This is just a gag, and Windows 94 is a parody of Windows 95 and is completely fictional. This is not and never will be real and has no actual association with Microsoft. Never Gonna Give You Up is by Rick Astley The Sounds on HL's punishment (A remix of and the Explosion are from/made from sounds in https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/264396979/ and https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/260767145/ respectively) and the explosion sprite by @Qwerty_Gaming A lot of my sprites are from off the internet as images of Windows 95, but I forgot their sources. However, my WIndows 3.1 logo is from https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a7/Windows_logo_-_1992.svg/2000px-Windows_logo_-_1992.svg.png Installation information of Windows 3.1 is inspired by WikiHow. AOL screen from https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/24958824/ The startup gif is a Photoshopped version of https://media.giphy.com/media/edl5t7nDVPtC/giphy.gif The Windows 3.1 splash screen is from https://tr3.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/2007/04/06/0990cd34-c3b0-11e2-bc00-02911874f8c8/61349.png The Windows 3.1 desktop is from http://toastytech.com/guis/win31default.png The "Hey, Listen" sound is from Zelda. Navi is property of Zelda. I pulled the sounds out of https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/110146487/ Changelog: ~1/1/2020- Unknown- A discovered pre-1.0 but post-beta version of Windows 94 with an alternate cover but otherwise largely the same as 1.0. ~12/30/2019- 1.6.2- Added some hidden components for non-preview version. ~8/5/2019- 1.6.1- Made it so that more computers can get past the beginning boot by converting some of the boot frames to bitmap. ~7/25-29/19- 1.6.0- Added "Fastboot" for those who don't want to go through all the booting stuff and get straight to the Windows 95 loading screen. Also, should run smoother because many sprites were combined. ~7/24-26/19- 0.1.5.2- Added "Mine Sweeper"; Changed Typosoft Word sound. ~?/?/19- 0.1.5.1- Added "Typosoft Word 94". ~1/26/19- 0.1.5.0- Added "Free Downgrade to Windows 3.1"; Fixed a few bugs. ~1/24/19- 0.1.4.1- Made "Aple Facetime" more respectful; Fixed a few bugs ~1/21/19- 0.1.4 Added "Aple Facetime". ~1/16/19- 0.1.3.1- fiXED A MINOR BUG. ~1/11/19- 0.1.3- Added "Sound Blister". Pre-preview changelog: ~12/30/18- 0.1.2- The BIOS screen was changed to a parody of another manufacturer. Also, BIOS "works", but Huelet Lackard hopes you don't disturb his empire. If he has to, he'll get you good with his punishment. ~11/7/18- 0.1.1.1- When you hover over "everything", sub folders pop up. ~ 11/1/18- 0.1.1- A desktop has been added along with a keyboard driver error at login. At shutdown, a bunch of errors pop up, then, a BSOD. ~ 11/1/18 - 0.1- This is an early version of the parody. The boot sequence is mostly complete except that BIOS does not work yet. The log-in screen does not have keyboard driver errors yet, but the OK button does work. When clicked, it goes to a blank screen (There's no desktop yet.) and plays your typical Windows 95 boot sound... Backwards
