Chapter 22 - November 4, 2017 - Royce After about a minute, Tempest opened the window. She was looking at me kind of weird; I didn’t blame her. “What do you want?” She asked. “I-I thought I saw you running, and I was… I was worried…” I realized how weird this must’ve been from her point of view. “Uh…” She looked at me, nodding thoughtfully. “It— Everything’s fine,” she said. I frowned. “You know I just want to help. And if you’re really that nice, maybe we can—“ She cut me off hurriedly. “What?! No. I can’t fall in love again. He… he destroyed me too much.” I didn’t think twice about who ‘he’ was. “He, as in Vin—“ I got interrupted again. “Don’t say his name anymore! I can’t believe what he did to me just then. What was any of that for?!” I sighed. “You know very well I’m nothing like him.” Tempest narrowed her eyes. “I don’t care.” “Can’t you at least let me inside?” I asked. “The rain’s getting bad.” I reached up to feel my hair. It was drenched— only after about ten minutes, walking over here included. “Fine,” Tempest muttered. She shut the window and I walked over to the door. She opened it for me and I walked in. I can’t believe what happened next. We both must’ve lost control of our own movements, because we hugged each other. I repeat. We. Hugged. Each other. No clue why, we kind of just did. And then some; Tempest started crying.
