Almondpaw followed Sun-Drown skeptically to a log on the shore.They all ducked in.Sitting in a single-file line,they listened to Sun-Drown speak. "I'm here to guide you through fulfilling your prophecy,"the brown tabby mewed. "Have any of you been experiencing weird things?Even things that happened as kits are worth talking about." "When I was a kit,three stones flew up and trapped a butterfly," Dawnpaw ventured. Oceanpaw added, "I heard a voice inside my head during my first kitting!It said something about a Phoenixpaw?" Almondpaw and Firepaw exclaimed, "When I do battle training or hunting,the same thing happens to me!" The gradient ginger apprentice gasped, "And I knew much more than I was supposed to!" Sun-Drown listened calmly to the four as they mewed,their eyes meeting the others in shock.Once they were silent,he began to speak again. "These strange things happened because you four are part of a prophecy.Dawn can control wind,Fire can control flames,Almond can control earth,and Ocean can control water." A disbelieving silence seemed to echo through the log. "I can tell you don't believe me,"Sun-Drown meowed. "So let me show you the truth." A wave of dizziness struck Almondpaw,nearly knocking him over. Their medicine cat was sitting next to Songstar,who had his tails entwined with Scarwhisper.Grief squeezed at him as he saw his dead father. "Songstar,I recieved a prophecy,"Lavenderflight began hesitantly. "Then let's hear it,"the tom mewed. "Ocean will splash,Almonds will grow,Fire will burn,and Dawn will rise.Only they can save the light from the enroaching shadows.The 4 shall raze or preserve the clans,"she recited. "I think it concerns your kits." Scarwhisper leaped to her paws,eyes wide with horror. "What?" Lavenderflight's ears went back. "I may be wrong,it's just a theory.I must go back to my den,Creamflash has a thorn in her pad."She scurried off. Leader and mate stared off into the sunset. "Almondpaw!Hey,Almondpaw!" He jerked awake and found himself in his den alone.Maplepaw had her head poked through the entrance. "Glad to see you've recovered.You and all of your littermates had greencough.You're on border patrol with me and our mentors.Come on!" Confused,Almondpaw trotted out of the apprentice's den into the shade of the Great Tree.How had Sun-Drown sent them back home?
