══════════════════════════════════ A white male with ginger patches approached her wearily. "Barkpaw, where have you been?" he asked anxiously. The apprentice hung her head. "I was just finishing catching these," she muttered, placing the minnows on the ground next to her. "That would've been fine if you had asked myself or Aspenshadow first." Her mentor turned and began to catch up with the rest of the patrol. "Follow me. Just remember to recieve permission next time before you continue to hunt." Barkpaw nodded. "Yes, Flamecloud," she agreed as she padded after her mentor. ═══════════════════════════════════════════ When they reached RiverClan camp, the patrol lowered their catches onto the formerly small fresh kill pile. Aspenshadow approached a large rock and contently shifted into a sitting position near the peak. He gazed upon his Clan with loyalty, noticing two kits excitedly roaming around the clearing. Their apprentice ceremony is later today, he meowed to himself. Lost in thought, he wondered who would be mentoring the kittens. Aspenshadow decided not the think about that situation at the moment. Weary from the hunt, he rested his head on his paws and let sleep take him over. ═══════════════════════════════════════════ "Let all cats old enough to swim gather to hear my words!" Ivystar's summoning yowl awoke Aspenshadow from his slumber. He cocked his head as he padded toward the clearing in which Clan meetings were held. Two small cats were sitting at the foot of the Highrock, one ginger and white, and the other black. "Ashkit, come forth," Ivystar demanded. The black kit bounded forward with anticipation. "You shall now be known as Ashpaw," she meowed. The patch furred leader glanced around the group of cats gathered in the hollow before resting her gaze on a pale brown tabby. "Doeleap, you shall mentor this apprentice," Ivystar decided. Doeleap dipped her head and touched muzzles with Ashpaw, her expression filled with pride. The RiverClan leader lifted her view and turned to the ginger and white kit. ═══════════════════════════════════════════
