═══════════════════════════════════════════ A dark gray tabby pricked his ears as he heard a yowl from across the thicket. "Aspenshadow, I'd like you to lead a hunting patrol," a ginger and tan-furred tabby decided. Aspenshadow acknowledged the RiverClan deputy with an abrupt nod of his head. He flicked his tail, gesturing for a group of cats to follow him. They treaded through a stretch of oaks before reaching a riverbank. A swift black and white male twitched his whiskers. "We should probably hunt at this location. It seems like there would be decent prey here," he meowed. ═══════════════════════════════════════════ Aspenshadow dipped his paw into the water, cocking his head to search for nearby submerged fish. He flinched at an unexpected splash as a trout leaped to the surface. The gray cat pointed his muzzle to the opposite side of the river, motioning for the patrol to hunt there while he dealt with the fish in his section. Aspenshadow unsheathed his claws and grasped a trout from underwater. Filling with pride, he lifted the catch from the river. With the fish in his jaws, he padded across the flat stones that lined through the water. Reaching the other border, he set his prey down and began to watch his Clanmates hunt. Most cats had sucessfully managed to hunt a few large fish, piles of prey beginning to form behind them. ═══════════════════════════════════════════ Aspenshadow dipped his head. "I feel like we have all done our part to hunt enough for RiverClan," he meowed. The patrol seemed to agree with him, for they picked up their catches and started to venture back to camp. A dappled brown apprentice stayed behind, determined not to return empty pawed. She quickly lowered her paw into the river, emerging several minnows and tossing them onto the riverbank. "It's not much," she murmured to herself as she picked up her prey. "But it's better than nothing to feed the Clan." She swiftly followed the scent of the group of cats, eventually reaching the patrol. ═══════════════════════════════════════════
