"1A4" The first character dictates whether the note is flat, natural/normal, or sharp. The reason it's not just normal and sharp is because it's easier to translate it over from sheet music. 0 is flat, 1 is normal, and 2 is sharp! The second character, I think, is pretty obvious. It's the note! A, B, C, D, E, F, or G. The third one is the octave. They start on C, the piano in the project should give you a good idea of how it works. You can't do negative octaves.
