This is pretty simple. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to show, and hide the menu. To add an item to your menu, press a. There is a button to make food called 'Make Food" I have not been on scratch for long, so please do not criticize my work unless you have an idea for a for the game that would make it better. Also, if you feel that this game is boring, maybe you could find something you like better to play.
