Almondpaw wrinkled his nose at the scents of the dirtplace.Creeping through the tunnel,he pounded to the stone hollow where he knew his littermates would be waiting. Sure enough,Dawnpaw,Firepaw,and Oceanpaw were there.The amber-eyed she-cat scented him first,apparently,because she called out a greeting. <Be quiet,>Almondpaw thought furiously. <Don't let anyone know we're here.> He leapt down to his three sisters. "Are you all okay?" Dawnpaw flicked her tail. "Let me talk." When all three of her littermates had arranged themselves comfortably,she meowed, "I found Ghostpaw on our territory and we fought,and I..."she gulped. "I killed him." Oceanpaw looked like she'd been struck by a lightning bolt. "No way!" "It can't be!"Firepaw gasped. "You're no killer!"Almondpaw choked out. "But I am!"Dawnpaw said. "Fangstar should be attacking us!" Firepaw let her mouth fall open. "Forget Ghostpaw-I can smell FangClan!" Almondpaw tasted the air as well.Sure enough,the reek of several cats marching towards them filled the air. Oceanpaw scurried underneath a rock ledge while her three littermates charged up to battle. Songstar's forces charged into Fangstar's left flank,but they were seriously outnumbered.Almondpaw turned his attention away and hacked at the cats around him.The voice he'd been hearing in his training rang in his ears.<Watch your back.That cat is ducking,jump on his back.Bite her ear.>And so on. Then a yowl split the air. "Stop!" "Fangstar,what are you talking about?"Revengepaw,who Firepaw had just been fighting,demanded. "I've done what I came here to do,"he meowed. "We will leave now." The FangClan cats,muttering,paced away across the border into their own territory. Then the four littermates saw the body. Twisted.Limp.Songstar was gone.
