Use the spacebar, clicking, or left and right arrows to navigate. Enjoy! Thanks to @captaincooco and @V0calgiant12 for proposing this to be featured! (And it was! Thanks to m’lads the Scratch Team for that!) Thanks as well to you all for over 500 loves and 300 favorites (and 25,000 views)! I wrote this poem before I knew about this contest. I find it amusing that it's a parody of "The Raven" when the contest is hosted by @violet_raven. Description

This is my entry for @violet_raven and @tarekzaki's writing contest! It's a satire of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven." If you've read it, you'll notice I put in a few references to it throughout the poem. (Note: Apparently I didn't properly read the rules of the contest, because the point was to write about a specific topic. Funnily enough, I've done that before. I once submitted a Ronald McDonald blockshade to a fruit-blockshading contest.) Dollars and cents, if you are unaware, are units of currency used by several countries. They were convenient to use for the "recompense" rhyme. There's also some Ye Olde English lingo in there. Here's a small glossary: heed (noun): careful attention carrion (noun): the decaying flesh of dead animals Fun fact: The work "ye," commonly used to demonstrate that something is old, is actually just "the." There used to be a letter in the English language that looked much like a "y" but was pronounced "th." When people saw the word "the" in Old English, they misinterpreted it as "ye." Fun fact: If you look closely at the money in this project, you can see some things are a bit off...
