She abandoned him and his sister shortly after he was born. He and his sister lived together for a while, but she eventually wandered of with a group of lionesses and wasn't seen again. He headed off on his own, but got his leg stuck in a thornbush, and had to force-remove it. He eventually moved into a small crag of rocks, where he's been hiding for some time.
