Most Western nations have supported Taiwan in the past and have gone to their aid. However, as a large part of the US debt is being held by China they were forced to fight for the Chinese while secretly helping Taiwan any way they could. You were an English teacher in Beijing, when war was declared all foreign nationals were rounded up and taken to special camps. Most people don't know where they are, but they do know these places exist. About a month ago, you were taken from the camp to be interrogated to see if you know anything. As your body was wracked by pain and torture, your mind fabricated this current reality that you believe you're living in. Your body is no longer being tortured as you're catatonic and lying in a hospital ward somewhere in China.
