Enjoy this unusual creation that took WAY LONGER TO DRAW THAN IT EVER DESERVED (For the record, my actual artwork looked WAY better than this, but Scratch's favorite hobby is slaughtering the quality of my artwork.) Ladies and gentlemen, this is the mountain-dwelling Plumafrost, entry #2 of the 2-legged race. (Heheh get it) ~NATURAL ADAPTATIONS~ -The Plumafrost is a raptor subspecies that evolved and adapted to live in arctic climates over many years. -A thick layer of feathers cover its entire body, keeping it warm through the method of insulation. -Living within the mountains, it became much more reliant on its muscular legs, and it eventually lost its arms through the process of evolution as well. -The minerals of the climate seeped into its feet, and they became tough and rocky over time. -Since depth perception is important in this rocky climate, it grew a pair of lazer-sharp eyes on its forehead. -Since balance is crucial when you don't have arms, it often uses its two handy tailfeathers to steer itself. ~GENDERS~ There are two known genders: Male and Female. MALES: The picture shown is an example of a male. The horns are straight, sharp, and pointed. The plumage is thick and fluffy, as shown. The colors on its tailfeathers are much more vibrant, as they are used to court females. FEMALES: The horns are curved, and often vary in direction. Its plumage is instead separated by each individual feather (I may draw this one day) and the colors/patterns on its tailfeathers are very much toned-down. ~SOCIETY~ Similarly to regular raptors, Plumafrost live in organized groups of about 6-20. The male with the largest horns is elected as the leader. The only way a female can take over is if it either kills the leader or their chieftain fiance dies. The group that lives the highest up on a mountain is often considered to be greatest tribe by the locals. ~STRENGTHS~ -Its large legs allow it to run quickly and jump high. This allows it to pursue a wide variety of prey and escape most potential threats. -Since many Plumafrost live high within the mountains, most threats aren't even likely to find it. -Very few are ever found alone, so if one Plumafrost is attacked, it typically has others to help defend it. -It's front two eyes allows it to calculate distances in front of it almost perfectly. -The white feathers allows it to blend in to the snow with some success. -Its tail can help balance itself, and is also used for offence by whipping its foes with it. ~WEAKNESSES~ -The two eyes in front of its head are very focused, but the two large eyes on the sides of its head are nearsighted. It can see basic objects in its peripheral vision, but is very susceptible to sneak attacks from any other angle than straight forward. -If it does get attacked from the side and fails to knock the threat away, it is easy to topple over, and cannot get back up with much ease.
