Parascale's red eyes sparkled as she drew near,the ball in her mouth. "I wish I was half as fast as you!" Voltage playfully shoved him. "You could never run as fast as me!" "I bet I could!"her Umbreon/Palkia brother teased. Suddenly,their parents screamed from the house. "Please,"their father begged, "don't hurt our children!" "Children?"hissed an unfamiliar voice.Parascale's ears went forward to catch more and he shoved his little sister behind him,even as she angled her ears like his. "They would make such good shadow Pokemon!"said the voice. An Gengar's face appeared in the window.He sported a shadowy black aura. "An Palkia/Umbreon and a Reshiram/Glaceon?"he sneered. "If the Glaceon becomes a Paladin,that would be great for us!" "Don't hurt my sister!"Parascale yelled. "Hah!You think you can stop us?How about a deal?" "Okay,"Voltage's brother said tersely, "what's this 'deal?' " "You,Palkia/Umbreon,join us by choice.And then we'll let the Glaceon/Reshiram go." Parascale juggled his options.If he agreed to the deal,he'd be a Shadow Pokemon,but his sister would be safe,and he could remember her.But if he didn't,they would both end up infected with the Shadow Plague,and they might not even remember each other! But how could he leave his sister for the monsters that had killed their parents? A shadowy Murkrow landed on the roof. "If you agree,"the Gengar said, "Black here will...help you through the initation process." Parascale knew it then.He had to say yes.That was the only way Voltage would be free.You couldn't run from the Shadow Plague.Sooner or later,it'd catch you. He summoned all his willpower. "I agree to your demands." "Parascale,NO!"Voltage shouted. "I have to!"he said. "Voltage,run!Get out of here!Go!Before it's too late!" The yellow Reshiram/Glaceon swallowed and,tears forming at the edges of her eyes,nodded.Then she ran. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Voltage came back to find a deserted home.Even her brother had cleared out.Pain ripped at her heart.Her parents were dead and her brother had been infected by the Shadow Plague for her sake-and what had she done?Run away. <I can't keep running forever,>she thought.<Sometime I have to face the truth.> And that time was NOW.She would have to put all her courage together and find out if there was other Paladins like the Gengar had mentioned,and if she was one.There was only one way to find out. And she would take that route. Determination,courage,and fearlessness filled her soul. "I'm coming for you,Gengar..."she said. "And I've grown.I will search the whole world for you if I have to,Gengar,but I will make you PAY.I'm DONE with running.It's time to stand and fight.It's time to be a heroine."
