Chapter 1- NILO Nilo felt as light as a feather, floating gracefully in the air. Do feathers even float? is what crossed Nilo’s mind but when he looked down, he saw the land far below, and trees scattered aimlessly across the land. Down below, he noticed in dismay, was a group of a foxes herded around a body. Some poor soul has joined the stars today. The red fox, which rested peacefully on the ground, had green, staring eyes, and a tipped bushy tail. The creature had young features on him and ears poked alertly out of its head, as if he just realized what unfortunate event was about to happen to him. Nilo also noticed blood in the front of his chest, and he realized that he must have been shot. Not a second too soon he realized something, he was dead. That body on the ground was him. Nilo was surprised to find out that he didn’t figure that out yet, with his body on the ground and the fact that he was actually flying. More like floating though. Nilo looked around to see other foxes in the sky, with a soft glow in their fur. They seemed sad, and they slowly walked away. While Nilo was still alive, he had thought things would be a little more dramatic. Some gasps and maybe a big welcome. But nope. He dies and what sort of welcome does he get? Nothing. Nilo glanced back at earth. The foxes had slowly left, while two were left to bury the body. All of a sudden Nilo felt sick. He quickly looked away and bounded after the long dead foxes, until he was just a speck in the stars. Though what Nilo didn’t notice was that after the burying was over, a fox appeared. She had glittering yellow eyes and smooth, curved paws. She sniffed the ground and started digging. The fox finally uncovered the dead body. She sniffed through him and quickly found a crystal necklace around his neck. She carefully pulled it out of his neck and then wore it around her neck. She grinned, or did her best impression of a grin, at her achievement and quickly buried the body, where it looked like nothing was touched.
