my 1st merman drawing in vector, and my 2nd ever! sO basically the backstory for this is right here: Mother Nature and Father Sky’s story has been lost in generations’ worth of fables. But you, young traveler, will learn of the legacy they left behind. Nature created Earth in all its glory, and Sky made day and night. But, their creation went haywire, and the two were cast out by a Great Darkness, never to be seen again. In their last days, Nature and Sky made eight human beings and blessed them with powers, hoping that they could help Earth prosper. They still thrive here today, and these heroes and heroines will one day be known across the land… The Eight were made to grow quickly, as Nature and Sky could not care for them for long. When time came, Nature gave them immortality and honored them as the Earth Guardians. They were all reluctant to leave their creators, of whom they knew as Mother and Father. But, the Earth Guardians knew they had to escape, or be taken away with Nature and Sky. The last words they heard from Nature were nearly incomprehensible directions to Earth. Sparrow, the most clever of the batch, deciphered Nature’s riddle and got the others traveling in the right direction. And now here they stand, ruling over their assigned regions on Earth, fulfilling their great destiny. Aaaand I decided to depict the state of agony the Eight are in for a good couple weeks. Reeeeee. idek why I thought that Fjord [one of the Eight, im too lazy to add cHaRaCtEr info...] would be the best one to draw, naybe bc he's my first merman oc and cuz he's like,, one of the biggest group softies of all my ocs x3 [unless you count Adrian, but he's not one of the Earth Guardians sO...……….] rip me for the choppy parts, it was Saturday night when I started and I was tIRED :'3 oof those hands look pretty weird :'3 especially his right one HIS right not y o u r s lol
storyline ~ @sylvie8921 character[s] ~ @sylvie8921 art ~ @sylvie8921 coding ~ @sylvie8921 reference ~ um I found it on google somewhere [not in project] music ~ Sweet Dreams Are Made of Screams [piano version] I chose this song because though it sounds sad [the mood of this piece ofc], there is a hint of fury to show the Earth Guardian's desire for vengeance on the Great Darkness... [too much blabbing oof] (- w -) reee I did some tint lighting/overcast TINTING IN VECTOR ~ basically I picked a color [the color I wanted] and then made the second palette color the blue-gray bg color, then made a rectangle, then made a gradient of the two colors, then eyedropped that color. [for the hair, it was basically black so I used a very dark gray and gave it a blue gradient tint for shading.] There is one instance of this technique that I didn't cut out, so that can be your guide. Kinda. Cuz I'm not good. At shading. for the record, I never spent only 1 day on a speedpaint. Oof. It has exactly 200...………………. and 10... costumes I feel like all my casual/neutral/happy/cool illustrations are traditional. The digital ones?? Every complete illustration I do in vector [like with a background and stuff] is usually...….. depressing. In short, double oof. I don't play Roblox jsyk...
