~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~OBSIDIAN~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The king walked among empty corridors and palace halls. He knew what today was, everyone knew. It was his dragonet's day of hatching. He had been waiting, hoping, for this day for a long time. He almost felt bad about what he had to do to their mother. He spread his wings and flew with speed through empty halls, racing to get to the nursery, where he came to a halt. His tail twitched. He reached out his talons and shoved the silver door open. There she was. Queen Emerald. But he rushed past her to get to the eggs. The first one cracked revealing a little red dragon. "Jasper," Obsidian said. "The red one is Jasper." Emerald, who looked rather troubled, said, "The other one is weak, I'm worried it won't hatch." (NO!) Obsidian thought, he NEEDED two dragonets for his plan, a male and a female, so that if one resisted, the other would take the throne. He reached forward and helped the other dragonet out of it's egg. She was curled up and limp, wings flopping down to her side. Emerald said "She looks like an opal." And it was true, white, aqua, and specks of black and rainbow shimmers lined her scales. "Then Opal she shall be called," Obsidian replied. "Emerald, I have to tell you something," he said. "What, my dear?" She replied. "Your service is no longer required." And with that, King Obsidian swiftly dragged her in the supplies closet and barricaded it. He looked at his children. "Mama?" Opal said with tears in her eyes. "MAMA!!!" She screamed. "Shhh! Come dragonets, we're getting you're royal necklaces now." <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>< "Excuse me, my king, but isn't it tradition to give the heirs their necklaces once they are one moon-high old?" Said a royal jewelry maker. "I WILL DO WHAT I WANT, YOU HEAR ME!" Obsidian roared at her. "Now, I want one opal necklace and one necklace with jasper." She pulled out two necklaces and put them around the prince and princess's necks. "What's wrong dear?" She asked, Opal was crying. "-Nothing." Obsidian said.
