Miles is even more than a friend to him, but Miles kept the secret with me and Adrian. Because of that, he was never hated on by anyone, so Adrian’s got nobody left to relate to. I’m just grateful that Miles isn’t the one that moved away; that’d be really tough. However, there are rumors from sophomore year about Adrian being different, but we all know they’re right. Pushing my thoughts aside, I picked up my writing notebook and began the essay I’d been assigned. However, I did keep in mind that I’d have to get into contact with Adrian again soon. Alana spotted me in the courtyard during study hall. I had begun doodling pictures of Adrian, Miles, and myself— like how it used to be. I drew a little heart in between Miles and Adrian, to signify… their strange relationship. Well, at least, most thought it was strange, but love is love, and I guess that’s all that matters. Alana walked closer. “What are you drawing? She asked, eyeing my paper. “Uhh, nothing…” I mumbled, covering my sketchbook. “It’s okay, I won’t tell anyone,” Alana replied. I sighed. “Just some memories from North Heights— the prettier ones.” “Like?” Alana prompted. “Well, let’s just say that I had these friends in my old school…” I answered sheepishly. “So what’s embarrassing about that?” Alana queried, her eyes gleaming with curiosity. “The other two… well, let’s just say that they’re different,” I said, showing her my drawing. “Aw, that’s cute,” Alana said. “Wait, why do those two have a heart— ohhhhhhh…” She understood, clearly. “So you’re not weirded out that I’m friends with them?” I asked. “Not at all,” she said. “In fact, I’m, uh, different myself, it’s just that me, you, Tempest, Genesis, and this other girl named Skylar are the only ones that know. By the way, wanna sit with my friends at lunch next Friday? I'm sure they won't mind. ” I smiled a little. "Sure!" Maybe senior year won’t be so bad after all.
