Chapter 5 - August 24, 2017 - Royce The black-haired girl blushed a little, probably hoping that nobody had seen her. But, in the corner of my eye, I noticed her and stared in her direction. That’s unfortunate on your part, I thought to myself, mildly amused. “You okay?” I whispered from below. I grabbed her book off of the floor. It was a copy of The Complete Encyclopedia of Magical Artifacts. So that stuff about magic is a thing people study. I wonder if she’s secretly a witch. “Thanks,” the girl mumbled as I handed her the book. “Um, hello there…” my voice trailed off; I was trying to hide the awkwardness of the situation. “Oh... hi, Royce. The name’s Tempest, by the way,” the girl replied, seeming at least half-polite. She headed over to the checkout center and walked briskly out of the library. I watched Tempest leave the room and looked at my watch. Good lord, the bell’s ringing in two minutes! I grabbed my own book from off of the floor and walked to the checkout center. “You should probably get to class,” the librarian exclaimed with a light smile. “Yeah, I should,” I muttered under my breath, mostly to myself. I walked out of the library and into the crowded hallways, wishing that the paths weren’t so blocked. I looked through the sea of heads, hoping to find Tempest. Unfortunately, I didn’t see her, but I knew we were going to the same place, so I didn’t mind too much. I stopped to think. Does Tempest know that I like her? The thought made me feel a little uncomfortable and awkward, but I carried on.
