Instructions

Name: (Feel free to change this) Seerent (Sear-Ent) Appearance: Their scales can be dark blue, teal, green, or purple, and on some occasions, dark gray, silver, or even black. Their manes can be silver, dark gray, or black. They have nearly pitch black eyes, with the pupils completely covering the irises, and nearly all of the sclera. This is due to the fact that over years of usually only coming out at night and living in dark places in the water, their pupils have permanently dilated so they can take in more light. They have long, thick bodies with strong muscles that allow them to move quickly, and they average around 8 ft. long, the longest ever discovered being 12.5 ft. long. They have larger, herbivore teeth with sharp, carnivorous teeth in between. Habitat: Seerents can live in any body of water, fresh and salt, as long as they have a dark enough to live in, as they hate to much light. However they do prefer the ocean, and none have been found in rivers Diet: Seerents are omnivores, but prefer meat of the prey they lure in then plants found in the sea. Hatchlings: Seerent hatchlings hatch from eggs, and are generally born in clutches of 2-4. When they hatch, they are much smaller, averaging around 3 ft. long, and they have no manes, revealing the gills that their manes will eventually hide. These manes will start to grow in at 5 months old. They eat already chewed food that their parents put into their mouths, and live on this type of food until they’re 1 year old, when they’re large enough to leave their roost with their parents to hunt, and will continue to do so until they reach 2 years, when they leave home before their parents try to eat them. Lifespan: They usually live around 12-15 years. However, one was recorded to have lived up to 20 years, but this one was in captivity, and had a steady food source and no predators Social Dynamic: Seerents can live alone or in pairs, but often live in herds of 5-8, but mates will split away from the group to lay their eggs and raise their hatchlings, but will return once the hatchling reach maturity and have left. Most lone seerent are often still looking for a herd after leaving their parents or trying to find another lone Seerent to make their mate, but on rare occasions, a Seerent will live alone because it wishes to. Pairs are usually former loners who have become mates, or mates who split from their herd to have hatchlings, and are on their way to return to it. Communication: Like dolphins, Seerents use clicks and whistles to communicate, and each has their own unique whistle. However, above water, they also use whines to communicate, and can even mimic sounds they hear. Hunting: Seerents can hunt by chasing down their prey, but they prefer luring them in instead. They’ll curl about rocks close to shore, keeping most of their bodies hidden in the water, trying to look as innocent as possible. They’ll make noises like they’re injured, in an attempt to lure their prey into the water. Once their prey is in deep enough water, they’ll quickly lunge towards in, wrapping their long bodies around it and pulling it under the water. If the Seerent has one or multiple Seerents with it, they’ll also join in, Wrapping their own bodies around any limb that hasn’t been wrapped up yet.
