Instructions

Socceroo Phenakistoscope Adjust Sliders to suit then Click Green flag to begin. With Spin=45 the 8 wedges appear in fixed positions With Spin=40 the 9 yellow dots appear to freeze With Spin=51(.43) the 7 green dots appear to freeze Hit Space (or Click Stage) to switch animations. (A Socceroo is a player in the Australian National Soccer team, which wears Yellow and Green uniforms) 3.0 ruined Sliders converting them to 0-100 initially but that was fixed recently so min & max values fine now. And 2.0 perfectly placed centre was offset by tiny amount by 3.0 so it wobbled when spinning. It didn't in 2.0. But I have tweaked the Centres a little now to almost completely eliminate the wobbling.

Description

Created by @gregatku for use in Coding Classes for Kids Unlimited. This project is a simulation of a Phenkistoscope, an early animation device invented by Joseph Plateau in 1833 that predates flip books. Students will be given this project as a starting point, with the intention being that they will add at least one animation of their own by duplicating the Main Sprite's costume and replacng my 8-wedge animation with their own 8-wedge animation. It is strongly recommended not to move or change the disc and wedge-lines (other than changing their colours), because it was a lot of very fiddly work to get them properly aligned and meeting at the same centre-point. NOTE: There should only be one Sprite! The yellow and green Dots in the centre should be a fixed part of each of the three costumes, and there should be 9 yellow ones and 7 green ones. BUT it was impossible to place them accurately enough to be able to properly observe their ideal behaviour, so I fudged them with Clones that rotate in-synch with the disc.
