You know those catchy headlines that some websites use to try to get you to click on their articles and videos? Well, this project randomly generates headlines like that. Click the Clickbait! button to generate a headline. :)
I made this project for the Embrace Randomness Scratch Design Studio. It was inspired by websites like HuffPost, Upworthy, and BuzzFeed that use catchy headlines to try to get you to click on their stuff. I used "pick random" and "item random from _list_" blocks to smash together bunches of random words and phrases to try to randomly imitate the style of their headlines. Sometimes the headlines make a lot of sense, and sometimes they're a bit silly. I tried to make it so none of them would be offensive, but let me know if you run across any that are so I can tweak it. I like to try to imagine what an article or video with the headline I got would be like. I put a fair amount of comments in my scripts, so feel free to check those out. If you have any suggestions for additional words and phrases to add, let me know! Special thanks to @ErnieParke for the typist sprite! I modified it a little to do some simple line wrapping. The typewriter sound is from soundjay.com. I used the Scratch sound editor to modify it to give variety. Thanks to @ElectricSparx for the idea to add the sound!
