Vivian stepped out of her owner’s back door and into the backyard, surrounded by brown, wood, fencing. Passing through her owner’s garden of roses and over to the small fountain shaped as a large fish. Vivian crouched low and then leaped on top of the fountain, nearly knocking it over as she landed on the fish’s head. Vivian looked down at the fish and flattened her ears, ‘out of every time I have leaped on this fish, it’s never done that’ though she realized that she hasn’t jumped on the fish in the last 4 months. Vivian balanced herself on the stone fish and leaped for the fence almost missing it. Vivian caught the fence and hung on it by just her claws. After a while she heaved herself up the fence and wobbled trying to keep her balance on the thing wood. It took a moment but she soon was able to sit and rest on the fence. She sighed and heard a voice “Not so easy as a kit, is it?” Vivian jumped and her front paws slid off the fence. “Ah!” Vivian screamed as she landed, head first, onto the grass of the garden. “Hmph. Pathetic.” the cat said. Vivan scrambled to sit up straight “You’re not so bright either, Smoke.” Vivian said, rubbing her head. “Heh, you’re wrong. Unlike you, I’m fully grown and smarter than an average house cat.” Smoke replied as he jumped up on the wood fence and sitting down with no problem. Vivian flattened her ears as she leaped on the stone fish once again “Don’t think you’re so funny though. You’re more boring and annoying.” Smoke flicked his tail and grabbed Vivian’s scruff to pull her onto the fence “Sorry about that. You normally don’t jump like that.” Smoke said after placing her down. Vivian gained her balance and sat down “You know I do!” she said rolling her eyes. She faced back to the forest, ignoring all outer noises as a gentle breeze flew past her golden and white pelt. She reached her paw up as a group of leaves flew by and she caught a red one. Smoke blinked at her “I know what you’re thinking...” Smoke sighed. “What?” Vivian said hoping he didn’t really know. Smoke replied “You want to leave this place. Run free in the forest. Catch prey for yourself.” Vivian sighed “Umm...” Smoke hissed “Don’t even try to think of something else to think about to ignore what I said!” Vivian rolled her eyes “I wasn’t!” Smoke starred at her angrily “Yes you were! I know you too well! You want to run free from the prison that you made this place up to be! You want to break free from the chains that you tie around your neck! Well, in there, you are bound by more chains. Chains of hunger, predators, and other dangerous cats!” Vivian frowned though she wouldn’t let him discourage her from running free. Vivian knew that she didn’t want to be free from the chains of her home but the chains preventing her to go wherever she wanted. Smoked turned to jump down “Though, I can’t stop you. If you want to go run and die, be my guest.” Vivian thought hard and jumped to the forest Smoke then turned to see Vivian jumping to the forest “Wait!” Smoke reached his front paw to Vivian but she was gone before he could grab her. Vivian landed hard on the grass floor, hitting her head. “Ow...” Vivian said rubbing her head “Second time today.” She stood up slowly and looked up, into the forest, she leaped forward and landed on a warm rock. Smoke climbed up on the fence to try to find Vivian but he couldn’t see her very well. Vivian played around in the great mass of trees, trying to climb one she reached the lowest branch and sat on it. She sighed and said “This is what I like, open forests all for me.” The branch cracked and fell beneath her paws “Ah!” she screamed as she fell and landed on her back. “Ow! This is the 3rd time! What are the odds?!” She groaned as she was getting sore from the falls. As she got up, she realized that she was hungry and didn’t know how to hunt. She tried hunting anyways, she sat and sniffed around, trying to pick up a scent. She scented a mouse and began crawling to it. When Vivian saw the mouse, she leaped and landed on it, crushing it. “Gosh was that lucky!” she grabbed the mouse by the tail and bit it’s neck to make sure it was dead. She then put it down and chewed on it’s fur “Ugh! This is more furry than I imagined, but, food is food.” She then tore the mouse’s flesh off and swallowed it “Ugh... This is gross.” But Vivian continued eating until there was nothing but bones and blood. She felt like she was about to vomit but swallowed it down hard. “That was the most unpleasant thing I’ve ever eaten!” She looked up and realized that it was night and she looked around for an empty tree to sleep in. A few trees down, Vivian saw a tree with a hollow hole and began running to it. Once she was at the tree, she leaped onto a nearby branch and climbed into the hole. She decided to sleep on the bare wood because she didn’t want to go grab any bedding. She then curled up in a ball and thought ‘tomorrow, I’ll think of a way home...’ then she
Once she was at the tree, she leaped onto a nearby branch and climbed into the hole. She decided to sleep on the bare wood because she didn’t want to go grab any bedding. She then curled up in a ball and thought ‘tomorrow, I’ll think of a way home...’ then she began snoring. “Vivian... Vivian... Vivian!” Vivian Jerked her head up and looked around. She was in her tree hole but as she stepped out, something was different. She appeared in front of her owner’s backyard. Even though she traveled 3 hours into the forest from the house. ‘Weird. This is strange. I don’t recall walking 2 seconds into the forest....’ When Vivian turned around, she was facing the street that runs through the forest a few miles from her owners house. ‘What?! This is even farther from where I woke!’ Vivian saw something, a cat! In the middle of the street just lying there, but why? “Vivian...Vivi... an...” “Huh?” Vivian said with surprise. Vivian walked over to the strange cat. The cat’s pelt was black as coal with white spots over its pelt. “Is that, Smoke?” Vivian said as she noticed the green collar hanging off the cat’s neck. She didn’t realize but, she was now next to the cat. She pulled the cat over to face her. “Smoke!” She said with sorrow. She looked at him as blood was pouring from huge gashes in his pelt. Vivian reached out her paw to touch him but she was soon in her owner’s house with strange cats “Huh?” None of the cats had collars but one, with pure ginger fur, walked up to her and began glowing red. “Uh, hi?” Vivian said confused. The house began to fade to empty white as the cat walked closer and turned completely red with black eyes. Vivian backed up but almost fell into an invisible pit as the red cat drew closer, Vivian grew more confused and scared. The cat leaped at Vivian and everything vanished. “Ah!” Vivian yelped in fear as she woke. She breathed hard “Just a dream” she sighed. ‘That was weirdest dream that I have ever had. I think I want to go home.’
