This is the template I want 4th grade students to use to tell part of the story of Alvar Nunez "Cabeza de Vaca" as he explored Texas. Follow these steps: 1. Click on See Inside, then click the yellow Remix button to have your own version of the template (as long as you are signed in) 2. Pick one of the quotes in the document provided: HTTP://bitDOTly/2PMUmjI (change DOT to .) 3. Use the tools in Scratch to tell the story from one of the paragraphs. Use the Tips on the right side of the screen to learn how to use the features you need to change it. 4. I'm asking students to add -at least one more character -an interaction between characters -some kind of character movement. Students can extend the activity by having a character interact with an item or change costumes on one of the included sprites.
Thanks to PBS for publishing the complete journal from Cabeza de Vaca. You can search for it online. Very interesting! Thanks to Wikimedia for the images I used as backgrounds. They are of the actual regions of Texas Cabeza de Vaca traveled through, so students can get a feel for what it looked like at that time.
