awww yea!!!! what a beaut!!!! i am sososo in love with this character and her design AND she fits right in with a couple other characters of mine (which i'll explain in her backstory!!) so i'm really hoping i get her!! i had so much fun drawing her and reimagining her design in my own (anthro) style.. anyways!! enough of me jabbering!! here's the actual entry + her bio and backstory!! https://imgur.com/a/HUh9IdA Name: Lakai Name Origin: In Hawaiian mythology, Laka is the goddess of Hula and forests. Gender: Female Age: Old! Very, very old! She is a goddess, after all. Height: 5'6 Job/Occupation: Goddess of the Island Personality: As goddess of the island, Lakai takes pride in all aspects of it, and it is reflected in her. With all the delicateness of the flowers but the energy of her people, Lakai's personality is bright and vibrant, managing to bounce and dance from place to place while still maintaining the grace of a goddess. She is outspoken, but with a certain gentleness to it; she is rambunctious, but poised and controlled; she is the wild side of nature, but she is also the beauty of it. In regards to the people of her island, she is, by all means, a very kind and merciful goddess. Unlike many of the other gods, she chooses to walk among her people; attending the festivals held in her name, frequenting the marketplaces, and even socializing with the mortals are some of her favorite past times. She's likely one of the most human deities there are, since most view mortals as lesser and inferior, while she views them as perhaps even equals. To the other gods, however, she tends to be quite reserved. She's learned that most of them are rather narrow-minded and cynical in her opinion, and tries to stay away from them as much as she can. The only one she can tolerate, and perhaps even think of as a friend, is the other god who protects the same islands she does -- Moggy. Likes: Plumeria (flowers), cannon balling into lakes, pineapple and coconut, the culture of her people, nature in general, green tea flavored things (kit-kats, ice cream, etc), spicy foods, pretty much everything about rain (the sound of it against leaves, the thunder and lightning that comes with it, the feeling of it in her hair, etc), and she absolutely loves dancing, /especially/ in the rain! Dislikes: Fire, Natural disasters (it's her job to defend the island from them, and that's hard work!), Most heavily processed foods (burgers, pizza, etc), and that's about it. There's not much she doesn't like! Friends: Moggy, Cory, and all of her people! ..But mostly Moggy, since he's the only one that won't die. Relationship Status: Like many other gods, she's sort of given up on love -- any mortal she meets will eventually die, and all the other gods are a tad too cynical for her. Backstory: At one point, the earth was a blank slate -- just an endless expanse of ocean. Some gods took to the oceans, but Lakai wanted more; water was great and all, but she dreamed of something bigger. Something more beautiful. Gathering up all her power, she swam to the very, very bottom of the ocean and began to gather rocks. All the other gods looked on in curiosity as this small goddess began to pile up more and more rocks until, rock by rock, night and day, over the course of an entire year, she had built a small island with her own two hands. Finally satisfied with her canvas, she let her imagination loose, picking stars from the sky and planting them into the raw earth that sprouted into beautiful flowers and trees, and shaping the clay into lively animals to inhabit it. Another god, kinder than most, was inspired by her tenacity and perserverance. He came to her with a simple request -- in exchange for his protection over the island, he would be able to watch its beauty from the ocean. Naturally she agreed, and set off to continue to build up her island, eager to watch it grow, thrive, and finally live. Present day: Her creations eventually grew to the point where some chose to worship Lakai, and she couldn't be happier! After all those years of being alone on the island with only Moggy's occasional company, she was absolutely thrilled to have actual /people/ to talk with. Even though their lives are so, so short in comparison, she loves to watch and interact as their culture changes and grows, and to this day she does her best to be a part of it all. Bonus facts! ❀ you can see through the hourglass on her wrist and the stripe on her belly!! ❀ she sometimes joins moggy and his companion for cake-and-Disney-movie-night on Fridays and absolutely loves it ❀ she's fascinated with the idea of children -- how does that work?? mortals can just.. make more mortals??? that look like a completely different mortal?!?!! amazing!!! ❀ in addition to finding children fascinating, she also finds them absolutely ADORABLE!! goodness gracious!! they're so tiny!! how are they so tiny?!! ❀ can shift from anthro to feral at will and vice versa! ❀ made (8) more islands!!
