~Chapter Two~ Why are people always so much harder to carry when they're unconscious? Amora is usually pretty easy to pick up. But right now I'm practically dragging her to our shared tent, since she had suddenly and unexpectedly fallen asleep about an hour ago. On my lap. Once I get Amora settled on her blanket, I douse the burning candle inside the tent with a tiny droplet of water. I open the tent just a little and peek outside to make sure everyone's settled in. The only lit candle I can see is inside Thomas and Ridge's tent. They're usually pretty restless, so I can see why they're still up. I lie back down on my blanket and look up through the thin fabric of the tent at the faint glow of the moon. Amora is still sound asleep. Thank God. Having known her for several years, I know very well that she's very energetic. Which is a good thing most of the time, but not at night, when everyone's trying to sleep. I sigh and let the faint rustling of the breeze relax me. The sweet, steady sound makes me feel drowsy. But... why is it getting louder? The rustling turns into growling. Then the growling turns into a howl. I sit up on my blanket suspiciously. The wind shouldn't sound like that. But I know what should. I creep out of my tent and look around anxiously. Just as I suspected, two gleaming amber eyes are staring back at me from atop a hill. Then four more appear. Then eight more. Seven pairs of eyes are glaring at me. Wolves. I raise my voice as loud as I can (which isn't very loud). "Everyone! Get your weapons!" The first person to emerge from his tent is Thomas. "Eliza, are you okay? What's going on?" Then Cory appears, then Ridge, Raven, and Renn. Even Amora grogglily stumbles out of our tent. Edwin shows up a moment later. "Look up there." I point to the top of the hill with my staff. The wolves begin creeping down the hill toward us, their menacing growls growing louder by the moment. Everyone is silent for a moment. Then Renn speaks. "Well, I guess we're not sleeping tonight." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I loved writing that XD The music is "Mipha's Theme" from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild". I like to think of it as Eliza's theme, so I'm going to play it in most of her chapters. I'M SO HAPPY WITH HOW THIS IS STARTING!!! :DDDDDD
