Click to place a sunflower! One thing that I've loved about Scratch since I first started using it is that it allows you to apply math to create art. On the surface, this doesn't look like it uses math, but actually, it uses a lot of trig. Take a look inside!
I wanted to create sunflowers by drawing with the pen blocks. One challenge I had was creating the color gradient on the petals to make them look like they were changing from orange to yellow-- I tried a few different ways but ultimately settled on changing color and shade in a loop and experimenting until I got the colors I wanted. I had fun learning about the math of sunflowers! The seeds are in spirals called Fermat's spirals: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fermat%27s_spiral Song: "Song for a Pea" for Podington Bear
