Controls: WASD / Arrow Keys - Movement. I refer to keybinds as WASD rather than arrow keys, since it's easier to use them in my opinion. T - Clears/replaces text at the bottom. P - Stops the game. Left Click - Uses the active item. 1 - Switches your active item to the sword. 2 - Switches your active item to the grappling hook. There are different mechanics: Ground: Well, it's ground. Water: You slowly float in it, and you can dive with S. Red Spikes: Touch these, you die. (may change it so you have to fly at it at a certain angle or speed. Highly unlikely.) Green pads: Bouncy pads. You can hit S to cancel bounce. Grey ropes: Climb up and down with W and S. You can jump off these. (May cancel momentum on these, so you don't fly off easily.) Orange circles: Use the grappling hook on them. You can swing around with A and D and use W and S to extend or retract the hook. - Debug - I - Teleports you to your mouse.
[EDIT] Featured. Oh my... GOODNESS! I'm pretty suprised actually. Blew my inbox up, lml. Thanks for the support, and Scratch Team, too. ^.^ [EDIT 2] Thank you guys for the support in the comments. I do get many questions, please read FAQ below. Also, I do plan to make a full game out of this. Suggestions would be appreciated! owo Also, please, don't advertise. -.- FAQ: - I got stuck on the stage that tells you that you can go back! Ah. Quick hint. See the bottom area? Go back to the previous area and you should see some small thing at the bottom right. That's actually an opening. - Why does grapple not work!? Ah, I should've made it more obvious in instructions... my bad -.-' First, Grapple only attaches to orange dots. See last stage, there's one big dot in the middle of the large jump or whatever. Also, you have to press '2' to select the grapple, then left click. Once attached, swing around and you can use left click again to release. - The game loops? Also, yes, this is only an engine, so the stages do loop after like 6 stages or something. Again, sorry to disapoint, but it means, guess what, you can make your own stages! I guess. heh heh. - There's some glitches with the code. I know there are going to be glitches, but ironing them out, especially with how the grapple works, is something I couldn't find out... grapple seems especially buggy when you try to retract it into a cliff overhang... yeah. I can't really throw a fix in on this version, but if I do make a full platformer I'll try to find a way to remove this bug. - Pressing the 'i' key teleports you to your mouse? Eheheh, I forgot to remove that debug cheat option. Use it if you (somehow) get stuck. - Quick Fixes - 1: The grapple looping sound effect seemed to make the grapple lag. A lot. ahaha, whoops. Can't fix the lag when it retracts, though... probably because of some intense amount of code calculations or something, gah. 2: Modified the decor's transparency. You should be able to see a little better now. Might change it again, but depends. ------------ I kinda rushed this out a little, since it was late, and I didn't want to hold it up till tomorrow. It took me quite a long time to get the swing hook working. More than I'd have wanted to. Oh well. And yes, this is the platform engine from quite a while ago, but now with some tweaks. And a swing hook. Visuals are kinda below average, but this is proof of concept. Mainly the swinging hook concept, which is still not perfect. Oh yeah, the place loops, so have fun going around in circles. And also, the game may lag quite a bit. Better to play it in offline editor, since there's basically no lag on that version. If there are any bugs, please tell me. I'll see if I can make this a proper game sometime. And yes, the graphics will get an overhaul. If you want to see the code, well, go ahead. Have fun trying to decipher the massive amount of code in there, though. And don't go stealing my code away. plz.
