This is a project I did for school :) The reason I chose this subject is because my family and I are thinking about getting a pet dog and my mom adopted one from the ASPCA when she was young. I've wanted a dog for quite some time so I think rescuing one from this society will be a benefit to my family. And plus, we'd be saving the life of an animal too ^-^ I want to have a lot of people be involved in helping the ASPCA, which led me to doing this. Although, writing and talking about some of the dark issues was hard for me. It really made me upset to have to look at some of the pictures and think about the sick or hurt animals and their problems. But I was able to go through it and finish this! Trixie Bear is a character I created and she will be hosting this slideshow-ish project! BLOG This assignment was complicated for me. I got to choose a topic myself, but it had to be how I can make a difference or something that can make people change their minds about something. I have things I’m really interested in but unfortunately they aren’t good topics for this project. So since I hope to get a dog soon, maybe this summer, I picked writing about the organization that helps dogs and cats get adopted. The ASPCA does other stuff too. There is lot of stuff to help people learn about what these animals need from us and the really bad situations they’re in. When I first chose this topic, I avoided the project for a while because thinking about all the tragic horrific stories I’d have to read made me scared to do it. Soon, many people were getting close to finish their project when I haven’t even started yet! So I had to toughen up and get the research over with. Thankfully I was able to do so. And it didn’t seem that bad until I started doing the script. The part when I had to talk about issues like dogfighting was very hard for me because I wanted to avoid sad stories like these. But with some help, I was able to get it done and it wasn’t quite as horrible as I thought it would be :)
