eeeey it's meerrrmmaaaayyyyy!!!!!!! woooooo!!!!! favorite month of the year!! if you don't know, unfortunate soul, mermay is like mermaid + may (clever clever) and basically you draw a mermaid every day for the month of may! some people also just draw a few mermaids to celebrate. it's mermaid month. and i love mermaids. this is my day 2! i'm really really happy with how it turned out, so i decided to share it on here (despite not having shared any traditional art since november of last year. ahahah). i drew the princess from my webtoon, facing dragons, and i love the design! i combined her dress with her armor and a bit of the dragon thrown in and this is what happened. y'all also get a bit of a sneak peak of her armor in this >w< i'm hoping to get episode 4 out by the 7th, which will have her full suit of armor, but seeing how i'm not done with the lineart yet and that deadline is 3 days away i'm not super hopeful. it's been a very busy week, and with mermay and an art trade i need to do asap, i have not had much time to work on it ;w; plus there's the whole challenge that i tend to work on it at the last minute, which means i get a bit burnt out, so i don't start the next episode right away, which means working on it at the last minute again, and it becomes an endless cycle. i'm trying to get better though. that's what this webtoon is for, practice and experimentation ^u^ i also figured out that it will have about 10 episodes total, so it's not going to be super long. i had the story all written out beforehand as a short story for creative writing class. after i finish, though, i'd like to start a much longer webtoon with my school friends, who are interested in writing a comic but not as fluent with the drawing portion. i love writing too, but i tend to not finish long stories, so this will provide some accountability >w< anyrate enough of that ramble! i hope to share a full-on art dump (that hasn't happened in awhile hey) of the entirety of my mermay endeavors. hopefully i'll keep up and draw every day of the month instead of only getting to 13 like i did for inktober ^^; lol but i am more motivated for this because i creepin' juniper love mermaids. oh and if you want to follow along on my mermay adventures and you have an instagram, i'll be posting my mermaid of the day each day @mimasui!
