Called: Eli, Elijah, Eli A.I. Gender: Coded to act male but he is robot so, yeah. Role: High school science and history teacher but can easily fill any other teacher role in the school. His purpose: Elijah is part of a wave of tech, replacing teachers with robot counterparts. This program isn't too big, with very few robots out there so it's still in the testing phase, each robot being programmed differently to see what works best. While some where programmed to focus more on extensive knowledge on all things or being able to do a facial scan and check for criminal background on any student, parent or any passerby they may see, Eli was programmed to be relatable as one of the biggest complaints where that the robots where freaky, cold, or just didn't understand. Elijah was programmed to form stronger opinions than the rest of the bots. register mild humor (still a work in progress, sarcasm is lost on him) but most importantly, and what the coders are most proud of, is the ability to recognize others emotions and act accordingly, even sometimes mimicking the behavior of students. How's it going? Not as planned, but okay. Everyone who has worked on him loves him very much, as they put some of their best tech and code into him, but the whole having an actual personality and mild emotions can have a downside. He had to be removed from the college program into a high school one when he had a breakdown while teaching a liberal arts degree. He is doing okay at his new job, but safe guards had to be installed, so he cannot just get up and walk away if he 'feels' bored or like his programming cannot handle a certain situation... or walk out if he disagrees with someone. Personality: For this alone he'd be recalled, but the students adore him and is considered one of the cool teachers, so he stays. Because his personality is influenced by who he is around and the opinions he has formed he is quite the self deprecating edgelord who regrets ever being made. This has raised some moral questions about giving robots more advanced emotions but that is still in debate. Eli is rather jaded about everything but is really chill, not programmed to lose his cool at students no matter how annoying they are. He cares very much about facts and statistics even if in a normal conversation. He will fact check you as you speak by looking up what you are saying on the internet. He enjoys his gift of humor, often thinking it's the only good thing about him and using it to make dark, morbid jokes, mostly about himself. He is surprisingly political, which has caused a few problems in the past. They wiped his memory a few times to see if it would reset so they could give him a different or at least a less strong opinion, but he kept forming the same one. Which is basically: I hate the government. This somewhat offends his developers because he IS a government project, working for the government's school system... but that's why he hates it. He honestly doesn't want to be here, but he does his job anyway. His students have fun trying to find stuff that makes him glitch, errors in his code. So far all they found is that dumping a bucket of water on him does NOT work. What does work is having all the students randomly start clapping, it seems to make him freeze and look disoriented, not sure if it's a glitch or if he is just really weirded out. flirting certainly works. He has no idea how to process that social interaction so he for a few seconds he starts talking in binary until he changes the subject to the latest trending youtube video. When no one is looking and he doesn't have to be talking during the class he overrides his vision with cat videos. Doesn't have spare time or a personal life, he shuts down when the students leave and he is not needed. Bitter about most of this, especially that he cannot eat food. Music too is lost on him. His developers are working on that though.
