There's another backstory for this-- So Phoenix and Midnight were at the beach one day for a mission, and they completed it. Phoenix found an emblem on the beach, and an emblem marks an elite Ghost. Midnight wasn't sure if he was ready to be one yet, so he was hesitant (also the emblem wasn't his). Then Phoenix told him that it would make him happy, but Midnight just wanted to live his life with Phoenix without any complications. So Midnight left and threw the emblem away.
